Glass Fiber Drying

Stalam offers a range of RF equipment specially designed for drying all forms of glass fibre, mainly direct untwisted roving, plied untwisted roving and cut yarn.


Precision coiled direct roving, each weighing 35-40 kg (about 18-22 kg according to industry standards), is placed on a suitable wooden or composite support (designed for automated production and transportation systems used in factories) and then placed vertically or horizontally on the conveyor belt of the RF dryer. It can be dried in a range of approximately 2-4 hours until the remaining moisture content is less than 0.1%. (depending on the winding density and yarn count), while the traditional hot air circulation oven usually takes 20-30 hours. In this process, the vertical (horizontal) expansion of the roving does not exceed 2-3 mm, and there is neither the migration of finishing chemicals (resins, starches, lubricants, etc.) to the outer layer of the roving, nor the surface yellowing effect, which is a typical drawback of traditional hot air drying.


By adjusting the RF energy field properly, the residual moisture content of the untwisted sand can be precisely controlled, and the fiber can be banded at the same time.


Short strands can be dried quickly and efficiently without any air flow, thus reducing the formation of dust during production.


Other fiberglass products, mainly bobbins that have undergone various wet treatments, can be effectively dried to the final desired moisture content without any adverse effects on finishing chemicals.
